Cocktails Based on Champagne

The collection of cocktails based on the sparkling wine has its origins in 1923 with the appearance of the 75 Cocktail in Harry MacElhones’s ABC of Mixing Cocktails. Within a few years Frank Meyer from the Ritz Hotel in Paris removed Calvados and grenadine from the recipe and added gin and champagne. Finally in 1930 Harry Craddock added the word French to the name of the cocktail and put his final version in his famous The Savoy Cocktail Book.
