The collection of cocktails featuring eggs begins with egg-nogs, which the entirety of the Anglo-Saxon aristocracy drank on their winter holidays. A similar recipe belongs to another classic Christmastime drink of slightly later vintage: the Tom and Jerry, first presented to bartenders in 1862 in the first edition of Jerry Thomas' cocktail canon, "How to Mix Drinks or The Bon-Vivant's Companion."
