"It took its current form at the end of the 1800s, and earned especial popularity in the 1920s and 1930s through dozens of different styles and forms. They are divided into categories: cobbler shakers, which have a built-in strainer; French shakers, without a strainer; and Boston shakers, which consist of two equal-sized cups.
